这条河也界限着“大坡”、“小坡”。

寻找华文书店的痕迹 - 追梦老舍
South Bridge Road
前一段时间读了老舍在新加坡逗留期间完成的小说《小坡的生日》。震撼于老舍的体验、观察生活的能力！对新加坡的描写如此吸引我，不禁又想起当年他一篇简简单单的散文《济南的冬天》就可以骗无数学子趋之若鹜地跑到济南读大学，也包括我在内。
所以，查找了一些资料，知道老舍当年很喜欢去的华文书店，如“世界书局”、“商务印书馆”、“中华书局”等等，都在 South Bridge Road，因此趁这个周末比较轻松，就此走一走 South Bridge Road.

以此为起点，看到这家“佛牙寺”Budda Teeth Temple，就算到了Chinatown 了。
这棵大树正在路的中心，我在这里等绿灯。树的右边就是Maxwell 美食中心了。左边过了马路就是“佛牙寺”。
远处就是Maxwell 美食中心，被一排大树隐藏着。
沿着“佛牙寺”旁边的一条小巷进来，就是这个“牛车水大厦”（Chinatown Complex），二楼是美食中心，有很多很多好吃的。有一次和同事过来吃煮炒，我专门跑到一家炒了40年馃条的老店等10多分钟买一份馃条。
面对着的就是“佛牙寺”的后门。每逢周末过来，总是很多人在这里下棋。
我坐在这里吃蛋糕。
绿荫下。。。
吃完蛋糕，休息一下，开始走上South Bridge Road。
看到这家“华侨银行”，仔细看上面的字，有“大坡”“分行”。
正是因为读老舍的《小坡的生日》，才查找资料知道新加坡还有“大坡”“小坡”的称呼。
“大坡”就是指新加坡河南岸这边Chinatown 、Tanjong Pagar 一带。而“小坡”自然是指新加坡河北岸Bugis 一带。
看到人力三轮车出来，这条古旧的巷子，有路灯，有开在房子侧面的窗户，有巷子深处的大树。
北京同仁堂 - 多么响亮的字号。也不知道是哪一年开进了新加坡？

途中还经过一个印度庙。
因为里面正在举行什么仪式，没有拍照。
可想当年，马来回教、印度教、中国佛教汇集在这一条街上
需要多么包容的态度？
也因此可以肯定尽管印度人、马来人、华人之间有众多不同，
但只要大家互相尊重各自的信仰，这个世界就会少很多无畏的争端。
这条路上还有一家“中华书局”，在44号，离这里应该还有很远，所以没有继续走过去。
50多年过去了，变化了的，没有变化了的，都凝聚在时光的隧道里，
看不见，摸不着，只能感觉 ... ...
这里已经是高楼大厦林立。
等绿灯亮，继续往前，很快就到新加坡河了。
看看这些树，就知道这条街道的历史了。
我继续往下走，经过新加坡河、国会大厦，去City Hall 对面的体育场Padang 看国庆日预演。

下午从office 出来，直接来到这家cake shop - 忘记是在哪看到报道关于日本的面包、蛋糕在新加坡发展势头猛烈，并介绍了3家特别的面包店。其中之一就是这家。所以趁这个周末跑过去，满足我的口腹之愈。

很棒很浓郁的巧克力蛋糕！$5.10，还是觉得有点贵了。不过仅此一次过把小瘾还是可以的。

So relaxed and refreshed.
Although a bit sad (difficult to find an exact adj word to describe my current feeling), because at least I am in a place which is not my hometown. I can be objective to say this contry is more developed and has a more perfect institution than my own, but I am not a person without feeling, even though I once tried to.
That is why I refused to attend the "Praying meeting" with the church cell group yesterday.
So complicated and have to struggle with myself.

I arrived at the Padang of City Hall at about 6.40pm, and watched the rehearsal until 8.15pm.
I am very excited to watch the show, especially when I climbed up the stand which is (maybe) 20 metres high.
I took so many photos when I stood on the stand, the highest level of the stand, and I never saw the city hall before at such level !
I felt the breeze of the night, the lights, the fireworks, and the quiet in my inner heart as nobody coming to interrupt you.
So wonderful to have a Holiday, no matter in what name of.

INTEGRALE VESTITO CHANNEL - The death of Formula One triple world champion Ayrton Senna, on May 1, 1994, resulted from a crash that occurred while he was leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix at the Autodromo Enzoe Dino Ferrari in Italy. The accidents of Senna and Roland Ratzenberger (the previous day) were the first fatal accidents in Formula One in eight years, and were the worst of several accidents to take place during the race meeting.

Formula 1 is justly famous for high technology, speed and excitement, but it is arguably the progress made in the field of safety which has been the sport's most remarkable achievement in recent decades.

When the new Formula-1 season gets underway in Manama/Bahrain (12-14 March 2010), it will mark the debut of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG F1 Safety Car - the most spectacular and powerful Official F1 Safety Car of all time. The job of the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, which will be launched on 27 March 2010, is to ensure maximum safety in Formula 1. The "gullwing" model replaces the SL63 AMG, which was used as the Official F1 Safety Car in 2008 and 2009. As in the last two years, the C63 AMG Estate will be used as the Official F1 Medical Car for the coming season.
"Together with the entire AMG Team, I am very proud that the new SLS AMG is the official F1 safety car. 2010 世界杯过去了，整理资料时发现这几张赌球票，不禁回忆一番。
对于我来说，看赌场是一种态度，欣赏，但不是我的生活方式。
如下几张球票，皆是因为球赛期间，大家讨论的话题离不开足球，
于是买球票变成了一种变相的支持，抑或是
个人的观点希望的到证实的方式？
买德国，是 office 一致的选择，我也就没有否定。

Ayrton Senna 巴西车手

He streaked through the sport like a comet, an other-worldly superstar whose brilliance as a driver was matched by a dazzling intellect and coruscating charisma that illuminated Formula One racing as never before. No one tried harder or pushed himself further, nor did anyone shed so much light on the extremes to which only the greatest drivers go. Intensely introspective and passionate in the extreme, Ayrton Senna endlessly sought to extend his limits, to go faster than himself, a quest that ultimately made him a martyr but did not diminish his mystique.
Ayrton Senna da Silva was born on March 21, 1960, into a wealthy Brazilian family where, with his brother and sister, he enjoyed a privileged upbringing. He never needed to race for money but his deep need for racing began with an infatuation for a miniature go-kart his father gave him when he was four years old. As a boy the highlights of Ayrton's life were Grand Prix mornings when he awoke trembling with anticipation at the prospect of watching his Formula One heroes in action on television. At 13 he raced a kart for the first time and immediately won. Eight years later he went single-seater racing in Britain, where in three years he won five championships, by which time he had divorced his young wife and forsaken a future in his father's businesses in favour of pursuing success in Formula One racing, where he made his debut with Toleman in 1984. At Monaco (a race he would win six times), his sensational second to Alain Prost's McLaren - in torrential rain - was confirmation of the phenomenal talent that would take the sport by storm.
Deciding Toleman's limited resources were inadequate for his towering ambition, Senna bought out his contract and in 1985 moved to Lotus, where in three seasons he started from pole 16 times (he eventually won a record 65) and won six races. Having reached the limits of Lotus he decided the fastest way forward would be with McLaren, where he went in 1988 and stayed for six seasons, winning 35 races and three world championships.
In 1988, when McLaren-Honda won 15 of the 16 races, Senna beat his team mate Alain Prost eight wins to seven to take his first driving title. Thereafter two of the greatest drivers became protagonists in one of the most infamous feuds. In 1989 Prost took the title by taking Senna out at the Suzuka chicane. In 1990 Senna extracted revenge at Suzuka's first corner, winning his second championship by taking out Prost's Ferrari at Suzuka's first corner. Senna's third title, in 1991, was straightforward as his domination as a driver became even more pronounced, as did his obsession with becoming better still. Some of his greatest performances came in his final year with McLaren, following which he moved to Williams for the ill-fated 1994 season.
Beyond his driving genius Senna was one of the sport's most compelling personalities. Though slight in stature he possessed a powerful physical presence, and when he spoke, with his warm brown eyes sparkling and his voice quavering with intensity, his eloquence was spellbinding. Even the most jaded members of the Formula One fraternity were mesmerised by his passionate soliloquies and in his press conferences you could hear a pin drop as he spoke with such hypnotic effect. His command performances were captured by the media and the world at large became aware of Senna's magnetic appeal.
Everyone marvelled at how he put so much of himself, his very soul, into everything he did, not just his driving but into life itself. Behind the wheel the depth of his commitment was there for all to see and the thrilling spectacle of Senna on an all-out qualifying lap or a relentless charge through the field evoked an uneasy combination of both admiration for his superlative skill and fear for his future.
He drove like a man possessed - some thought by demons. His ruthless ambition provoked condemnation from critics, among them Prost who accused him of caring more about winning than living. When Senna revealed he had discovered religion Prost and others suggested he was a dangerous madman who thought God was his co-pilot. "Senna is a genius," Martin Brundle said. "I define genius as just the right side of imbalance. He is so highly developed to the point that he's almost over the edge. It's a close call."
Even Senna confessed he occasionally went too far, as was the case in qualifying for the 1988 Monaco Grand Prix, where he became a passenger on a surreal ride into the unknown. Already on pole, he went faster and faster and was eventually over two seconds quicker than Prost in an identical McLaren. "Suddenly, it frightened me," Ayrton said, "because I realised I was well beyond my conscious understanding. I drove back slowly to the pits and did not go out anymore that day."
He said he was acutely aware of his own mortality and used fear to control the extent of the boundaries he felt compelled to explore. Indeed, he regarded racing as a metaphor for life and he used driving as a means of self-discovery. "For me, this research is fascinating. Every time I push, I find something more, again and again. But there is a contradiction. The same moment that you become the fastest, you are enormously fragile. Because in a split-second, it can be gone. All of it. These two extremes contribute to knowing yourself, deeper and deeper."
His self-absorption did not preclude deep feelings for humanity and he despaired over the world's ills. He loved children and gave millions of his personal fortune (estimated at $400 million when he died) to help provide a better future for the underprivileged in Brazil. Early in 1994 he spoke about his own future. "I want to live fully, very intensely. I would never want to live partially, suffering from illness or injury. If I ever happen to have an accident that eventually costs my life, I hope it happens in one instant."
And so it did, on May 1, 1994, in the San Marino Grand Prix, where his race-leading Williams inexplicably speared off the Imola track and hit the concrete wall at Tamburello corner. Millions saw it happen on television, the world mourned his passing and his state funeral in Sao Paulo was attended by many members of the shocked Formula One community. Among the several drivers escorting the coffin was Alain Prost. Among the sad mourners was Frank Williams, who said: "Ayrton was no ordinary person. He was actually a greater man out of the car than in it."

Already on pole, he went faster and faster and was eventually over two seconds quicker than Prost in an identical McLaren. "Suddenly, it frightened me," Ayrton said, "because I realised I was well beyond my conscious understanding. I drove back slowly to the pits and did not go out anymore that day."
He said he was acutely aware of his own mortality and used fear to control the extent of the boundaries he felt compelled to explore. Indeed, he regarded racing as a metaphor for life and he used driving as a means of self-discovery. "For me, this research is fascinating. Every time I push, I find something more, again and again. But there is a contradiction. The same moment that you become the fastest, you are enormously fragile. Because in a split-second, it can be gone. All of it. These two extremes contribute to knowing yourself, deeper and deeper."
His self-absorption did not preclude deep feelings for humanity and he despaired over the world's ills. He loved children and gave millions of his personal fortune (estimated at $400 million when he died) to help provide a better future for the underprivileged in Brazil. Early in 1994 he spoke about his own future. "I want to live fully, very intensely. I would never want to live partially, suffering from illness or injury. If I ever happen to have an accident that eventually costs my life, I hope it happens in one instant."
And so it did, on May 1, 1994, in the San Marino Grand Prix, where his race-leading Williams inexplicably speared off the Imola track and hit the concrete wall at Tamburello corner. Millions saw it happen on television, the world mourned his passing and his state funeral in Sao Paulo was attended by many members of the shocked Formula One community. Among the several drivers escorting the coffin was Alain Prost. Among the sad mourners was Frank Williams, who said: "Ayrton was no ordinary person. He was actually a greater man out of the car than in it."

Steamed Cake - 第一次
今天7.00pm 出office。跑去NTUC 买了self-baking flour；鸡蛋10粒；Nestle cream一罐170g；peanut crunchy (pure) 一瓶 16oz；Ragu Tomato Sauce (for Pizza)；Grape fruit 3粒；家里还有coconut cream；unsalted butter；准备回去尝试作steamed cake。
出来在 Old Chang Kee 买了一个咖喱卜，2 串Spicy Cuttlefish (现在promotion $80c/ 串)。开心地边走边吃。
到家开始准备 -
大概大概用150~180g self-baking flour，6粒鸡蛋（大粒），30g butter （不想放太多，最近一直用butter烤pumpkin 吃，有点儿燥热），200ml coconut cream (主要是与鸡蛋搭配制造kaya 口味)，搅拌，使劲儿地搅拌，然后加入peanut crunchy 50g 左右，再次使劲儿地搅拌，最后觉得差不多了，放入电饭锅里开始加热。仅仅10几分钟就从cooking 跳到keeping warm；就这样放在里面焖着！Peanut 的香味儿已经不可抑制地弥漫 ... ... 我担心会掩盖住 kaya 的味道？
金黄的颜色，膨胀松软的糕体，一根牙签插进去再拔出来，不带丝毫。现在仍旧在锅里自然冷却 ... ...
不知味道如何？ 期待明天早上。我要带到 office 去展示一番。嘿嘿嘿。

后记：最后没有带到office，因为是很健康的调料，全都没有加糖，而且买的peanut source 也是不含糖的那种，所以味道淡淡的，一定非常人所能接受的。不过后来自己吃倒是很喜欢！有淡淡的花生清香。

Recipe - about Pumpkin and Beetroot
Pumpkin - chutney - recipe （来源于网络：秘方Recipe）
Ingredients:
3 lb pumpkin
3 lb apple
1 lb onion
¾ lb sultanas [optional]
1½ pints vinegar
1 lb sugar
2 tsb ground ginger
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp ground clove
1 tsp cayenne
Method:
1) Finely chop or mince together all ingredients.
2) Put all into a large saucepan with vinegar and spices and cook until softened and slightly reduced, then add sugar.
3) Continue cooking until thickened.
Makes about 20 jars of Pumpkin Chutney !
Beetroot - chutney - recipe
This one works best using white vinegar and white sugar to enhance the lovely beetroot colour
Ingredients:
4 lb (1.8 kg) beetroot
1 large onion
1 lb (450 g) raisins
1 teaspoon salt
½ lb (225 g) white sugar
1 pint (570 ml) white vinegar
6 peppercorns
6 cloves
1 tsp allspice
Method:
1) Wash the beetroot carefully without rubbing the skin and cook gently in a large pan, covering the beetroot with water, until tender.
2) Allow to cool, rub off the skins and dice into cubes.
3) Peel and chop the onion.
4) Put all of the ingredients into a large, heavy based pan, tying the peppercorns and cloves in muslin.
5) Bring to the boil very slowly and then simmer gently until cooked and thick.
6) Remove the muslin bag and pour into hot, clean, sterilized jars. Seal at once.
7) Label with contents when fully cooled.
Makes about 5 lbs (2.3 kg) of Beetroot Chutney ！

The Cabinet 舞台剧《内衣阁》
因为《联合早报》 的宣传，知道这部舞台剧。难得在新加坡看到华文剧，特地跑去看。

看报纸知道了这部华文剧，正好趁今天有时间跑去“The Arts House”看这部评论很多台词影射新加坡政党、政治、又诙谐幽默的剧，更何况是首度进入旧国会大厦（Old Parliament House）议事厅这个曾经呼风唤雨的政治舞台上表演？
《内衣阁》是一部“戏中戏”，演员扮演剧场工作者。一部即将上映的舞台剧的男主角（MRT 导演/演员/编剧）的衣柜（cabinet）里收藏了21件纯白内衣，每一件都纪念一位他曾经的恋人。虽然三天之后就将上映，却在这三天排练的时间内，状况百出，不知如何是好？围绕着全体成员包括MM(marketing manager)、PM(production manager)、SM(stage manager)、ATM(assistant technical manager)与男主角MRT(Multi-Role Talent) 之间的合作与冲突，对话不时影射政治以及PAP，并探讨了接班人和嗜癖的问题，很有政治意味。剧里出现SM（国务资政）、MM（内阁资政）和PM（总理）的称呼，很容易让公众把角色和内阁挂钩。
应该是体会到政党对人民深刻的影响力了。
表演也十分尽兴。比电影有过之而无不及。
最棒的是曾经的“议事厅”当作表演的舞台，更是为这部剧增色。

F1 一些术语（单词）
FIA motor racing course inspector
Course: a road or track, and the inherent installations, used for automobile competitions.
circuit : a closed course, beginning and ending at the same point;
track: a road especially built or adapted to be used for Circuit competitions. A track is defined by the outer edges of the racing surface.
Trajectory: the path followed by an object moving through space. 轨迹；轨道；
Width: the width of starting grid should be at least 15m; this width must be maintained through to the exit of the first corner;
concave 凹面的 convex 凸面的；
Run-off area: an area between the verge and the first line of protection.
Unless otherwise indicated because of features such as pit exit and entry roads, a permanent track should be bordered along its entire length on both sides by continuous white lines clearly marked in anti-skid paint, minimum 10cm wide.
For standing starts, there should be at least 8m length of the grid per car for the F1 Woorld Championship; and preferably at least 250m between the starting line and the first corner.
Various deceleration (decreasing the speed)systems and energy dissipating(to cause to separate and go in different directions)and stopping barriers may be installed to constitute a first line of protection.

The emegency service requires an adequate number of vehicle holding areas and service roads behind the first line of protection and acess points to the track, to enable the emergency vehicles to reach, unimpeded, any point of the track abd the medical centre and the exits from the circuit quickly.
Accident reporting:
The report should as far as possible include: video recording of the car and scene made immediately after the accident; team data recordings from the car; an engineer's report on the condition of the car; medical reports; marshals' and eye witness(me as an observer official trainee should provide this kind of report) reports.
All guard-rail supports should be checked for firm location in the ground. All nuts and bolts should be checked for tightness. Correct overlaps should be maintained.
Tyre barriers should be checked for firm location to existing structures and tight attachment together. Tyres should be bolted tightly in piles before installation.
Spectator and debris fencing - these fences should be checked regularly for support and tensioning. The fences should be checked for deterioration.
Kerbs - should be continually checked for damage. Broken kerbs should be repaired/ replaced immediately.
Drains and drainage - should be cleaned, and inspected by the ASN for correct operation prior to major events.
Service roads - should be kept in good condition with smooth surfaces, they should be kept clear of all obstructions.
Circuit demarcation lines - All for Track and Pits should be kept clear and clean and preferably repainted prior to major events.
Observation/ vision - clear vision should be maintained at all times between consecutive Marshals/ Observation posts/ Signalling locations etc. Trees and vegetation shoud be cleared or trimmed to maintain good vision.
Communications - telephone and other communications should be checked.

关于F1 志愿者
至上周日为止，已经参加3次F1 Singapore Singtel Grand Prix 2010 志愿者的培训了。
除了光有热情还不行，毕竟语言的隔阂是我最大的障碍。再加上自己天生有一点点儿胆怯和害羞。
温故而知新，所以，从现在开始要加紧准备。
